please welcome another great wizzkid to the kitty-yo roster. e.stonji aka jens döring does things the traditional way… taking max/msp/supercollider rhythms, adding synthesizers, merging things with livedrums and some chansons like mélancholique and finally creating some algorythmic antithesis to the rectangles of the popculture. sound wicked? it is! e.stonji has released various records with skam, heimelektro-ulm, phantomnoise records, spezialmaterial, baked goods, klein records and many others. he also runs various projects such as hp.stonji with hans platzgumer and e:gum, produces soundtracks and audiobooks and runs his own media art office… like we just said, a wizzkid.

na easy, niemand spricht von NUR mp3. aber erstmal müssen diese jämmerlichen datensammlungen ein paar mal verkauft werden, damit sich 100 vinyle rechnen. einwände? schön auf jeden fall, dass niemand wegen fehlender cd´s rumjammert.

eben… so eine komplette vinyl produktion inkl. master + layout + distribution rechnet sich auf jeden fall nicht bei 100 stück. würden die ganzen vinyl-leute nur annähernd soviel platten kaufen wie immer alle behaupten, dann wäre die welt noch heile und die ipod verkaufszahlen nicht so irre hoch. oder spielen die jetzt auch schon vinyl?

naja, das ist das problem mit den generationen… die eine ersetzt die andere(…) wenn das feedback zu einem release bzw. artists eine weitere produktion rechtfertigt, dann kann man über vinyl nachdenken. vorher leider nicht.

“die idee ist gut, nur die welt noch nicht bereit” … das würde bedeuten, dass manche frühe enthusiasten eine halbe ewigkeit warten müssen bis sich knapp 500 leute für den kauf entscheiden. klingt gut und ist als idee auch nicht so neu, nur funktioniert halt nicht in der praxis. solange die altbackenen und starren distributionswege und der absurde preisdruck in den majorstores anhalten, wird sich das indie-business andere, bessere wege suchen.
